I build things and I care about how they're made. A company, a brand, a piece of software, or a gemstone — the medium changes, the instinct and intention don't. Understand the material, pay attention to the details, and build something excellent to be held, used, and loved.

I run The Gemstone Market, source rough through The Rough Life, and cut precision-faceted stones under Bee Creek Bespoke. I also work with my wife, Jamie, on custom jewelry at Westlake Goldsmiths. I studied geology in college, and lately I’ve found my way back to the rocks, minerals, and exploring that drew me to it. It’s been fun finding ways to make that part of my everyday life again.

Through Assay Ventures, I invest in and advise early-stage founders. Before that, I built and ran dating apps — first Dindr, then The Round. I made mistakes, learned a lot, and am grateful for all of it.

Austin’s been home for ten years. Outside of work, I spend a lot of time walking, exploring, and mining. My happy place is in the forest, foraging mushrooms with friends and family. I love meeting new people who are excited about what they do and hearing how they found their passion.
